Interdisciplinary Mathematical Finance Graduate Program Climbs To Its Highest Ranking In 2022 TFE Times List
UNC Charlotte’s Master of Science in Mathematical Finance program has soared to its highest national ranking ever. The program is No. 11 in the TFE Times’ 2022 Master of Financial Engineering program rankings.
UNC Charlotte’s Master of Science in Mathematical Finance program has once again been named among the top-ranked programs in the nation, ranking No. 12 in the TFE Times’ 2021 Master of Financial Engineering program rankings. As a STEM-designated program of the Departments of Finance and Economics in the Belk College of Business and the Mathematics and Statistics Department in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the program excels in readying students for careers in an emerging field.
Creating classrooms that encourage a free exchange of ideas among students connects the six finalists for the 2020 UNC Charlotte Excellence in Teaching Awards. Five of the six finalists teach in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Erin Basinger, associate professor of communication studies in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, is this year’s recipient of the Bonnie E. Cone Early-Career Professorship in Teaching. This annual award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated a commitment to teaching at the beginning of their academic career.
UNC Charlotte MPA Program Rises To Top 17% In U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate School Rankings
The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings place the Gerald G. Fox Master of Public Administration at #48 nationally, with the program moving into top 17 percent of all ranked public affairs programs. For UNC Charlotte’s nationally accredited MPA program, its ranking marks a 19% increase over last year’s results.
Tonya Bates, a senior lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, is the 2020 recipient of the UNC Charlotte Award for Teaching Excellence. She and Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence recipient Heather Coffey of the Cato College of Education were honored during a virtual ceremony Thursday, Sept. 17.
The Department of Biological Sciences has developed graduate certificates in biomedical sciences and in biotechnology, in response to growing student and societal needs. The world's critical needs continue to drive the demand for biotechnology and biomedical professionals.
