Dean Kruckeberg, Department of Communication Studies, was a keynote speaker who discussed “The Reconceptualization of Public of Public Opinion in the Digital Era—How Online Public Opinion Changes the World,” at the International Conference, Public Interest & Media Impact, at Shi Hsin University, Taipei, Taiwan, March 20. The conference drew participants from Taiwan, China, Macau and Singapore.
Kruckeberg is co-author of the book, Public Relations and Community: A Reconstructed Theory, and he is the author and co-author of many book chapters, articles and papers dealing with international public relations and international public relations ethics. Kruckeberg is co-author of This Is PR: The Realities of Public Relations, a major public relations textbook that has a global English edition and translation editions in several languages worldwide. He was recipient of the 2013 Atlas Award for Lifetime Achievement in International Public Relations and the 1995 national “Outstanding Educator” of the Public Relations Society of America. He was awarded the Jackson Jackson & Wagner Behavioral Research Prize in 2006 and the 1997 recipient of the Pathfinder Award, which was presented by the Institute for Public Relations. In 2011, he was presented the Infinity Award, the highest award to a public relations professional that is given by the Charlotte Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, and in May 20013, he was inducted into Rowan University’s Public Relations Hall of Fame.
Kruckeberg has lectured and made presentations in Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East and in Southeast Asia. From 1997 to 2012, Kruckeberg was co-chair of the national Commission on Public Relations Education. From 2008 to 2013, Kruckeberg was executive director of the Center for Global Public Relations, a service unit in UNC Charlotte’s Department of Communication Studies.
